Khumbu Climbing Center's (KCC) mission is "To increase the safety margin of Nepali climbers and high altitude workers by encouraging responsible climbing practices in a supportive and community-based program."

In 2009, DRV, Denali National Park, and the KCC collaborated to form the Sherpa Exchange Program. The purpose of the exchange is to share rescue, climbing, mountaineering and land management techniques used in different National Parks with the Nepali instructors of KCC.  Since 2009, one or two Nepali instructors from KCC have been nominated to participate with a Denali Mountaineering patrol. DRV has assisted Nepali instructors with travel and other costs, ensuring a successful exchange program in Denali National Park Denali offers a great training opportunity for Sherpas to bring clean climbing practices back to their home range of the Himalaya. Exchange recipients also participate in climbing patrols in Grand Teton and Yosemite National Parks.
